Toxic Childhood

Parents Book Club

TCThere is no job more rewarding than being a parent. There is also no job more fraught! We all want to do the best for our children, to raise healthy, happy independent children. However, it seems to be getting more difficult…We live in an age of comfort, convenience and promise – a wonderful place for a grown up to work and relax. But it isn’t always the best of worlds for our chilfive fingerdren to flourish?

According to Sue Palmer, author of Toxic Childhood, a child’s most basic needs can be listed on five fingers:Language, love, play discipline and education. This book has parents from all over the world talking and reflecting on what is important. We thought it would be great to get our community talking and sharing also. To this end we have purchased copies of the book for our parents to share and enjoy. Talk to your class rep if you are interested. The children at Ollies have a Book Club. Now it’s the parents turn!
