Remembering Former Principal, Mr. Ray Cunnigham RIP
The school is sad to note the passing of former principal, Mr. Ray Cunningham at the great age of 97. Ray, or Cunnier as he was know among the pupils back then, served in the school from 1956
and was Principal from 1960 to his resignation in 1979. He will be remembered for his kindness and dedication to duty, not only in school but throught the parish. It was during his stewardship the school grew from a three teacher school to 16 teachers and the main building was built. This was a huge achievement back then, given the cost involved and the fact that the school had to find one fifth of the cost.
Many of our present parents were in school during those years or will remember his wife, Rose, who was Principal in St. Sylvester’s Infant School. Ray will be remembered at 10.00 mass in St. Sylvester’s Church on Sunday next, February 9th.
