You could not have put another body into the School Hall for the Graduation Ceremony such is the popularity of the event. As always, the ceremony was really special with the Graduates center stage. Though this day is longed for by the Sixth Class pupils for weeks, it proved to be a very emotional event with all of the dewy-eyed Graduates agreeing that they wished they never had to leave “Ollies” – all Grove Roaders true and true. “I don’t know why they’re all so tearful”, said one of the boys just before he began to bawl himself.
“Today is the day you must say goodbye to Grove Road and set out on a new journey”, our Principal, Ms O’Connor told them, “It’s a bitter sweet day for all of us. You will always be an “Ollie’s child”, no one can take that from you. Follow your dreams – do not just go where the paths may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Aim for the moon and even if you miss you will fall among the stars”.
