Today is ‘Jersey day’ and ‘The Mile Run’. there is great excitement around the school as all 900+ children are dressed in the jersey of their choice. The children are being asked to make a donation to help the Syrian refugees and GOAL.
The children from 3rd-6th walked down to the Bridgefield and the younger classes were completing their challenge in the school grounds. Ms. Markey, with great help from parents, laid out the mile run course. Parents were on hand to help record times and race numbers. There were also some parents available to accompany classes on the walk down.

Well done to all involved. We will have the totall money raised after the weekend.

Ollies presented with the National Flag

Today has been a very special day in our school on Grove Road. Lt. Paul Dunne and Sgt. Jim Hoare from the Irish Army arrived to present our school with a copy of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic along with our National flag. This was the first of our planned events in the school to mark what is a very significant year in the history of our people and country next year with the 100th. anniversary of 1916. FullSizeRender (1) FullSizeRender (2)

A Step in the Right Direction

newBGreat news this morning from the Department of Education on the New Building.  We have satisfied all the requirements under the new building regulations and we have now moved to the next phase – a small step, but a significant one.

It feels like the child counting the sleeps to Christmas – we know it will be really exciting when it comes but we can only dream and wait it out as we are powerless to make the days move faster.  We will keep you posted of the progress over the next few crucial weeks and months.

Ollies to turn ‘blue’ on Friday

IMG_4002 (1)This is All-Ireland Week and on  Friday our school is having a ‘blue’ day in support of Dublin’s senior footballers taking part in the All Ireland Football final VS Kerry on Sunday in Croke Park. Since the 1950’s Dublin have only beaten Kerry four times in Championship and this Sundays game promises to be a great contest. Can Dublin become the new All Ireland champions?

imgresWe are all going to try and wear the colour blue on Friday all around the school to create a sea of support to our counties football team.

From all of us in Ollies:

‘Come on you boys in blue’.
