Today is very spooky around the school as lots of the boys and girls are dressed up in Halloween costumes. Even some of the teachers have evolved into dinosaurs, witches and scarecrows over night. This week we have all been really looking forward to our Midterm Break and the Halloween fun as we play the family games at home or go on ‘trick or treat’ in our area.
Safety is really important around Halloween and we all hope that the older boys and girls in our school keep a good close eye out for the ‘younger ones’ over the next week. We wish everybody a nice, relaxing and spooky midterm and look forward to seeing everybody back safe and sound after the break.

With the Halloween midterm nearly here there has been lots of ghoulish activity around our school the last few days. Today some of the senior classes were making/carving pumpkins. A Jack O Lantern is a carved pumpkin, or turnip, associated chiefly with the holiday of Halloween, and was named after the phenomenon of strange light flickering over peat bogs, called Will O the Wisp or Jack-O’-lantern.
We had so much fun today carving, cutting and designing. We will let you see our pumpkins tomorrow, lighting and ready for Halloween.
Here are the Irish phrases that we are focussing on up to Halloween around our school.
Please try and use them around the home also as ‘practice makes perfect’. Each month from now on our ‘frásaí’ will go live on our blog and twitter and you can have fun with them at home and in school. Go neirí an tádh leat.

Today the Senior Boys school Gaelic team played their Quarter-Finals in a Cumann na mBunscoil match in Ringsend v Scoil Eoin, Johnstown. Everyone got to play part in the match. We started off well with Johnathon and Darragh commanding in midfield and defence. By the end of the first half we were winning by fourteen points!
In the second half we played even better and went on to win with a convincing 9-11 to 4-3 after some great scores by Ben and Finn. This win means that we are through to the Cumann na mBunscoil Semi-Finals on Thursday vs Drimnagh Castle. It was a great game and a fantastic win. Well done to all our team.
